Formula 1
750cc open 4 stroke, 4cylinder machines
680cc open 4 stroke, 3cylinder machines
751cc open 4 stroke, 2cylinder machines
351cc 500cc 2 stroke, 4cylinder machines
401cc 760cc 2 stroke, 23cylinder machines
Number plate colours, size and font as per MNZ rules eg: Superbike White background, black numbers.
Fuel, as per MNZ rules superbike no methanol
No nitrous or other performance addon of this type
All machines must comply with the relevant MNZ rules such as Chapter 10
Modifications: As long at all the above requirements are meet and the machine complies with the relevant General Competition Rules all other items are unrestricted.
No cross entering into other classes
Other machines admitted at the discretion of the Organisers

Formula 2
501cc 640cc 4 stroke, 4cylinder machines

601cc 800cc 4 stroke, 3cylinder machines

601960cc 4 stroke, 2cylinder machines

401cc 490cc production based 2 stroke machines

250cc 351cc competition based 2 stroke machines

TRAINING

  • Motorcycling Canterbury has FXR150 and Ninja 250 machines which can be hired for $50 per day. These must be pre-booked.

COMMON REQUIREMENTS FOR CLASSES

  • Bikes must be fitted with VIN compliance plates, be of a make and model lawfully sold in NZ and be as constructed by the manufacturer.
  • Bikes require MNZ homologation
  • Tyres, including wet tyres, must be commercially available; tyre warmers can be used
  • Items such as head and tail lamp, reflectors, mirrors, centre and side stands and registration plates and bracket must be removed.
  • You can add items including a steering damper, ride height adjuster, engine case covers and protective crash knobs, and an engine cut lanyard attached to the rider that will cut the ignition or fuel supply to the bike,
  • A chain guard or shark fin must be fitted.

The club has leathers and other gear which novice riders can use – you must supply your own helmet.
Riders are supplied with a hi viz vest and partnered with a trainer. All riders are given one-on-one training for no cost by national class riders.
